Top 5 Wednesday is a Booktube group which makes book related top five lists. I’m not very regular with my Youtube videos so I’ll post them here instead when I can.

For more info on the group looks here on the Goodreads page:

This week is ‘Books Featuring Witches ’. Despite everything, I don’t generally read books about fictional witches, which is weird since I love magic and am a Wiccan. So, other than my top two, the books just happen to have witches in them:

5) Buffy the Vampire Slayer:

Ok, so not technically a book, but I do have a collection of Buffy books and comics. I love the witches in this series as they’re not born witches, they have to learn and practice and in a way anyone could be a witch, they just have to choose to be.

4) City of Circles by Jess Richards:

Possibly stretching the term witch here, since I don’t think it’s

explicitly mentioned, but I just wanted to use this books because it is brilliant.

I wouldn’t say the book is actually about magic though. It’s more about grief, and the long term effects of it on a person.

But there are definitely magic users and the odd spell so it counts right?

3) His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman:

The witches are awesome in this series. Nothing else to say there.

Admittedly, the series isn’t about them but about a girl called Lyra who travels across worlds.

2) Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling:

Don’t think I need to say why this is on the list and I’m guessing it’s probably on few people’s Top 5 this week.

1) Sweep / Wicca series by Cate Tiernan:

My favourite series of all time and it’s about witches. Of course this was going to be my number one.

It’s all about a girl, Morgan, finding out she is a blood witch and finding out that those around her might not be as trustworthy as they seem.
