Top 5 Wednesday is a Booktube group which makes book related top five lists. I’m not very regular with my Youtube videos so I’ll post them here instead when I can.

For more info on the group looks here on the Goodreads page:

This week is ‘Books as Event Themes.’  “It’s party season, whether that is high school prom, weddings, or summer holiday events. What books would make a good party/event theme?” Funny feeling my ones are going to be the same as everyone else’s, but oh well:

5) A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin:

Dragons, fun outfits, what else can I say?  …. I was thinking food as well but that’s beside the point.

Here is a handsome Game of Thrones Gathering table. Some great ideas include DIY small banners, Viserys’ “Golden Crown” centerpiece and a a mini-Iron Throne, fashioned from (super cheap!) plastic sword toothpicks, popsicle sticks (base layer), air-dry & sculpey clays, craft glue, and black & silver spray paint for finishing.:

4) Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling:

Its Harry Potter, nothing else needs to be said.

This Is How You Do A ‘Harry Potter’ Christmas Party, oh my god this is the best thing ever!:

3) Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll:

I’ve seen so many Alice in Wonderland parties on Pinterest, I couldn’t resist.

Check out this elaborate Alice in Wonderland party! See more party ideas at!:

2) The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern:

Circus, Victorian, magic, red, white and black; so many things to play with there…for both decorating and costumes.

1) A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare:

I’ll admit this is only number one because I don’t think it will be on so many people’s list.

Like the Night Circus there’s so many things so use here. The magical atmosphere, fairies, Shakespearian costume, ancient Greek (set in Athens with characters from mythology) and people turning into animals.
