Top 5 Wednesday: Books You Will Never Read
Top 5 Wednesday is a Booktube group which makes book related top five lists. I’m not very regular with my Youtube videos so I’ll post them here instead when I can.
For more info on the group looks here on the Goodreads page:
This week is ‘Books You Will Never Read’. I’d like to think that I’d try anything, though I might avoid it for a while, so other than number 1 these are just books that I probably won’t finish:
5) Black Five by J. Lynn Bailey:
I tried multiple times to get past the first few chapters but I just couldn’t. I wasn’t a fan of how it went about the world building or the use of present tense. It’s a shame since I liked the cover.
4) Snakewood by Adrian Selby:
Just didn’t like the writing style. The map and the poem at the beginning were good though.
3) The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky:
Just not my genre. Not a fan of the writing style – diary / letter style. I really couldn’t connect with the main character and TBH I only tried reading it because I heard so many good reviews about it.
2) The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon:
The series (or the first book anyway) wasn’t bad or anything, what I read of it anyway, I just couldn’t get into it. I think I found it slow, I don’t know. I really can’t put a finger on it was but it just doesn’t hold my interest.
1) Thomas Hardy, anything by him:
I’ve only read Tess of the D’Urbervilles but that was enough for me to never want to pick up another book by him. Just too flowery
