Top 5 Wednesday: Settings You Want to See More Of

Top 5 Wednesday is a Booktube group which makes book related top five lists. I’m not very regular with my Youtube videos so I’ll post them here instead when I can.

For more info on the group looks here on the Goodreads page:

This week is ‘Settings You Want to See More Of’. Had a lot fun thinking about settings I’d want to read more of. Feel free to comment on what you’d like.

5) Pirates:

More a genre really so … on ships I guess. I love hearing about pirates … pretend I’m not thinking about Killian Jones or Captain Jack Sparrow… but despite that I haven’t read many books about them. Pirates! By Celia Rees and a Sarah J Maas novella are the only ones coming to mind.

4) Ancient Greece:

Favourite part of history but I haven’t read much of. Read one about Helen of Troy and Dancing in the Athenian Rain but that’s it. Love to read more with mythology while I’m on the point.

3) Victorian London:

Second favourite period of history… that and I’m kind of loving Penny Dreadful at the moment.  This setting I have read lots of – classics and more modern ones like The Infernal Devices – but I can’t get enough of it.

2) Ice Kingdoms:

Odd fascination with ice and ice sculptures yet I haven’t read any good stories with them. Keep thinking about the ice garden in the Night Circus. Which leads nicely to number one on my list

1) Magical Circus / Theatre:

This is completely The Night Circus and The Book of Shade’s fault. Love both of these books and it made me want to read more like them.
