5 Wednesday: Favorite Literary Fathers/Father Figures
Top 5 Wednesday is a Booktube group which makes book related top five lists. I’m not very regular with my Youtube videos so I’ll post them here instead when I can.
For more info on the group looks here on the Goodreads page:
This week is ‘Favorite Literary Fathers/Father Figures’. Father … or parents in general are funny things in books and stories. Mainly because their either dead, missing or just background characters that make difference to the story. Anyway here’s the ones that have most stood out for me … and yes I know they’re not all ‘literary’:
5) Alaric in The Vampire Diaries:
Okay, I know he is a father in this last season – I haven’t actually seen the last season but oh well – but I’m thinking of him as more of a father figure to Elena and Jeremy.
4) Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer:
Another father figure which is the reason he’s low down on the list … That and I don’t like Giles. He tried to kill Spike!
3) Salem Cross in The Book of Shade:
Second person to come to mind when I saw the topic, even though I didn’t remember his name. He was a really fun dad and I need to read the rest of the series to find out more about him.
2) Klaus in The Originals:
So far all my fathers / father figures have had something to do with Vampires. Clearly shows what I like I suppose. I love Klaus, he’s a very dedicated dad to Hope and he does try to be there for Marcel.
1) Valentine by The Mortal Instruments / Shadowhunters:
He was the first person that came to mind despite being a crapy dad to all three of the of those that called him dad.
