Top 5 Wednesday: Series You Want to Start Next Year

Top 5 Wednesday is a Booktube group which makes book related top five lists. I’m not very regular with my Youtube videos so I’ll post them here instead when I can.

This week is ‘Series You Want to Start Next Year’. There are too many series to name that I want to start but here are the main ones. Most of these are pretty well known and have already finished but I’m really late to a lot of books since until a couple of months ago I only bought books second hand at car boots. Anyway, here we go:

5) The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer:

This is not my usual genre. I tend to stay away from Sci-fi – not including Doctor Who books, which I read despite the fact I don’t think they’re written well- but I’ve heard so many good things about it I really want to give it a go. I like fairy tale retellings and I enjoyed the steampunk elements in Alice Takes Back Wonderland, so I’m quietly hopeful.

4) Divergent by Veronica Roth:

Ok. A bit late to this series and I’ve committed the ultimate sin of book readers and already seen the film versions before reading – don’t hate me. In my defence I had never heard of the books until the films came out since I never read or watched reviews or book related news until recently. I mostly enjoyed the films and really hope they are better to read.

3) Bloodlines by Richelle Mead:

Yes, another one I’m really late to. I actually haven’t finished Vampire Academy either even though I loved it. I never saw the last three books at car boots so haven’t had the chance to read them. If the Bloodlines series is as good as the first few Vampire Academy I’m sure to like them.

2) Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor:

Now, I admit that I want to read this because Katytastic. She’s talked about it a lot and has definitely made it sound good. After reading the synopsis I have to agree, it sounds like something I would enjoy.

1) Half Bad by Sally Green:

Benjaminoftomes  and a few others have talked about this a lot and its piqued my interest. It has witches, which I usually enjoy… so please be good. Only reason this one is number one is because I think the next book is coming out soon, so possibly the newest to be released.
